Regina is a Chicago-based scenic designer from Puerto Rico. She’s been designing for drama, ensemble-based and applied theater for twenty-five years. And has had long standing relationships with the Latinx Theatre’s renowned Teatros including Repertorio Español, the Puerto Rican Traveling Theater, Teatro Vista and Pregones Theater, and most recently The People’s Theatre in collaboration with the Latinx Playwrights Circle. Regina is also a Fellow of the NEA/TCG Career Development Program for Designers, a Regional Associate member of the League of Professional Theatre Women; and company member with Rivendell Theatre Ensemble in Chicago; and Boundless Theatre Company (San Juan/ NYC). She is the Head of the Scenic Design program at DePaul’s The Theatre School. Regina is the recipient of USITT’s 2025 Distinguished Achievement Award in Scenic Design.
The entire creative team received a nomination for the Henry Hewes Design Award for our work on the Obie-Award winning satire, Between Two Knees, written by the 1491’s and directed by Eric Ting; and presented by the Perelman Performing Arts Center, NYC. Other recently completed projects include: South Coast Repertory Theatre (CA), Geva.Theatre (Rochester, NY), Marriott Theatre (IL), People’s Theatre (NYC), with upcoming projects at TimeLine Theatre Company, Rivendell Theatre Ensemble and Chicago Children’s Theatre.
Regina is a founding organizational member of La Gente: The Latinx Theatre Production Network, an active member of the No More 10 Out of 12s Working Group, and a committee member for the Michael Merritt Endowment Fund in Chicago. While serving on the Latinx Theatre Commons’ advisory board, Regina co-championed Café Onda’s La Esquinita; the production notebook for Latinx designers and technicians via HowlRound.
